Hundreds of Scrapbooking Ideas

I love reading Jessica Sprague's Blog. She is the digi-instructional queen and the author of Computer Tricks for Scrapbookers which is a fabulous resource. Her blog is not all business or digi. She talks about a lot of different subjects.

For example, in the beginning of August she started an ongoing entry called 100 in 10. Which is a list of 100 ideas that she calls "Creative Sparks" for Scrapbooking pages. She posted 10 a day over a 10 day period. Her ideas included color ideas, sketches, product usage, techniques and page subjects. It is almost like getting a special magazine issue for FREE.

Another cool thing about this list is that she invited her readers to submit ideas as well. The list ended up with over 300 ideas! It is definitely an anti-scrappers block list. She was kind enough to compile the list in PDF form for easy downloading. You can download the list HERE.  If you download the list please thank her by commenting on her blog. :-)

Btw, yours truly submitted a couple of ideas:

54. How about making a page about your top 10 Deserted Island SB supplies? This is besides photos. Be very specific. Instead of just saying cardstock, pattern paper, & adhesive - name the brand & description. For instance don't just say xyron, name which xyron model. -Janine

75. Do a page which lists foods or food combos you eat that others may think are *WEIRD*-Janine

Big Lots....My New BFF? (and a RAK)

Up until 2 weeks ago I had never been in a Big Lots before. Since then I have been to EIGHT of them scouring for Scrapbooking goodies. It was fun while it lasted but I am probably done for now, unless I hear of some fantabulous find but we'll see :-)

My newest acquisition is a Portable Craft Table for $20. Yippee! Such a great deal that was org. priced at $88. It is really nifty.

Here are the specs from the box:

What do you think? :-) The size may seem a bit small but its perfect for me as a portable table because I work from kits. I'll let you know how it works out after I use it for the first time.

I also found some pop up shower totes for $2  that I use as a trash or scraps bin when I go to crops. I hang it from my Tag-Along. I have been looking for these to use as RAK or gifts for a long time since I purchased the orginal at Michael's several years ago. I am always asked where I got these from. It is a perfect size too, just 8" x12". When you close it it folds into a disk just 1/4" thick. Talk about portability.

It's been a couple of days since my last confession....

I am severely obsessed with drug company swag, especially pens.

They are the best pens to write with in the world. Every time I would go into a Doctors Office I would ask for a pen. Yes, ask. I have never taken one without asking and no one has ever said "no". Sometimes I have received a weird look or two but that never stops me from asking. You should try it some time, you will be glad you did. :-)

My collection hovered around less than a dozen at any given point and time. This number has changed DRAMATICALLY since my brother started working in the health care field. Now he gets pens directly from the reps. Oh joy of all joys!!

SERIOUSLY.

I am not kidding.

This has been an obsession since I was in elementary school. What got me started was my mom was in advertising. Need I say more? I would pour over old ad sheets and cut out fonts I liked. Back in the late 70s I learned to do typesetting in my Library's media room, way before computers were involved.

Computers just helped it along. Scrapbooking perpetuated it even further. My collection hovers around 20,000+. You should see my face when I see a new font. My eyes get very big and almost glaze over. I am known to squeal with delight. Unashamedly. Here are a few of my favorites:

NoHo, Sylmar, Pacoima.......OH MY!! (My Big Lots Adventure)

Being a serious KI Memories junkie, I just had to jump on the Big Lots band wagon when I heard they had KI stuff for $1. Mind you I have never been in a Big Lots before, but this was KI Memories for $1!! I was compelled to find some.

I went to the website, printed up a list 6 of the closest ones and started on my adventure. Ooh boy what an adventure it was! I trekked in areas of the San Fernando Valley that I never been to before. Thank goodness my brother was with me or I would not have got out of the car at some of those. It was funny... I went in, looked to see if they had any Scrapbooking items, paid for them and left. I didn't even peruse any other areas of the store. Well, 6 different Big Lots and just $60 later here is my haul:

Happy, Happy Mail Day

I have been very busy Scrapbook shopping ...er...um...hoardng last week. It is always wonderful when CHA rolls around because 1) amazing new SB goodies come out and 2) There are always wonderful sales of older product.

On Saturday the fruits of my "labor" arrived :-) I received boxes from Freckle Friends (Lightning fast shipment), Happy N Scrappin (Great Prices and quick shipping), & Rocky Mountain Hobbies (Great Sale & Fast Shipping)

Some of the goodies include stuff from: Bazzill, Creative Imaginations Narratives, Fancy Pants Designs, Sassafras Lass, Fontwerks, KI Memories, American Crafts, Hambly, Crate Paper, Heidi Swapp, Cosmo Cricket, Basic Grey, Making Memories, Chatterbox, Lil Davis, Rusty Pickle, Doodlebug, & SEI. Whew!

DCWV Rockstar

Many Scrapbooking items speak to me. Maybe too many. Sometimes they SCREAM, like the new DCWV Rockstar line.

It appeals to my "80's new wave/punk" former self. Needless to say I HAD to have it. All of it! Even though I only seen previews of the paper. It has reached obsessive proportions until I finally found the embellies at M's on Thursday.
